A Dose of TEFLers' Reality

David Kornegay’s article “Castles In Spain” (ALR, March/April 2000) offers anyone interested in teaching English, or any other language for that matter, abroad a strong dose of reality in the fact that financial security upon retirement may not be as secure as we’d all like to believe.
Most of us believe that teaching overseas is full of life experiences, the romance of living in another country, spending little thought on the inevitable day we stop teaching. I, like David, am not an investment professional but, as my goal is to teach overseas within the next couple of years, I welcome his advice about investing and being wise about money matters.
Sincerely,
