British language-learning software company EuroTalkinteractive, has staked its claim as an industry pioneer with its latest teaching tool release__Advanced Spanish _ Querido Maestro.

Querido Maestro, for both Macintosh and PC, has crossed over into the world of Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) – the latest technology primarily used for high-qaulity home entertainment. But now, EuroTalk has incorporated the technology into a diverse and highly-interactive DVD-ROM learning tool. The product is aimed at "people with intermediate or advanced Spanish".

Obviously, to run this software your computer needs to have a DVD-ROM driver installed__earlier models of either platform can not operate this software. The basic requirements for the Macintosh are a G3 or G4 processor or a DVD iMac, 128MB of RAM (with the virtual memory turned off), MAC OS 8.6 and higher and DVD ROM Drive. The Windows platform requires Windows 98 or 2000, Pentium 200MHz, 64MB RAM, DVD-ROM drive, 16bit color display, 50MB of free disk space and a soundcard.

If your hardware satisfies the above basic requirements then you will be satisfied. To run Querido Maestro all you need to do is drop the disk into your driver and it automatically boots up (Note: Macintosh users with the AutoStart function disabled on their control panels will have to boot the DVD manually).

Querido Maestro is based on a popular episode of a Spanish television show of the same name. The software allows you to be-come one of the characters in the show, memorize lines through-out the show, which runs 60 minutes, watch the entire episode with Span-ish subtitles and a variety of other features. Querido Maestro is one of five new DVD-ROM releases from EuroTalkinteractive. The others are: Advanced English _ Inspector Morse, Advan-ced French _ Au Coeur de la Loi, Advanced German _ Ein fall für zwei and Advanced Italian _ Mio Padre è Innocente.
