Welcome to Português et Cetera – School of Portuguese Language and Culture

Português et Cetera was founded in 2005 with the aim of providing Portuguese Language Classes to Foreigners, while immersing them deeply in Portuguese culture, offering Accommodation in local people’s homes and featuring School Events and Learning Tours.

Our language School in Lisbon (Portugal) is located right in the historical centre of the city and is easily accessible by public transport. The nearest Metro station is  Baixa Chiado.

The famous 28 tram passes just under our windows and the school’s strategic position in the heart of Baixa Pombalina allows our students to take a break by walking along the Tagus river or having a coffee on the iconic Praça do Comércio.

We offer a variety of Extensive and Intensive Portuguese Courses. We also provide Private Courses classes and a Conversation Club (i.e.: conversation practice sessions), from beginner to advanced levels, to allow our students to Study Portuguese in Lisbon.

Moreover, we have an expert Linguistic Consultant who analyses the students’ competence and advises them individually as to the right learning path to undertake during their time at our Portuguese Language School in Lisbon.

Our classes have a maximum of 8 students each, and the class duration is such that it encourages the optimum level of student concentration . Each student receives a great deal of individual attention from the teacher.

Our teaching method of Portuguese for Foreigners in Lisbon is based on the Communicative Model through which the theoretical aspects of the language are practiced by simulating real life situations.

Student needs are a priority for our Portuguese Language School and in order to better meet them we offer high quality and professional services, which are flexible and tailored to each specific case.

We offer the possibility of Accommodation in some of the most typical Lisbon neighbourhoods, all easily accessible from the school. We also organise weekly cultural and recreational School Events in order to fully immerse students in Portugal’s traditions and lifestyle.

Our School is a Community and you will feel part of a family from day one. Our students are usually very satisfied by the progress they make with the language and with their whole experience at the school. Some of them decide to come back in subsequent years
