VERITAS

WHY VERITAS

For the past 25 years, thousands of students from around the world have enjoyed the wonderful uniqueness of VERITAS’ Study Abroad experience. A perfect blend between academics and cultural experience set in one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, Costa Rica.

The Center for International Programs and Sustainability Studies at Universidad Veritas is committed to offering innovative courses and programs to develop an interdisciplinary and sustainability-focused mindset. We provide an inclusive intercultural learning platform for international students in pursuit of becoming leaders and service-oriented citizens in a changing, challenging, and diverse world. We offer different levels of Spanish Learning 4-week, intensive programs, as well as Spanish Learning for Health Professions, Business Professions, Law Enforcement Professions, and Hospitality and Recreation Professions. Additionally, students can take either semester or summer-long courses in English at the same time, in different areas like Biology & Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Business, Health and Wellness, among others. We also provide all the support required to develop and manage Faculty Led and Customized Programs in different areas.

Universidad Veritas offers a very creative urban campus. It is fully equipped with computer labs (Macs & PC’s), library, Digital Fabrication Lab (Fablab), co-working spaces and a Biomolecular Lab (Biomol), which is a laboratory specially equipped and designed for research purposes for many marine and land projects regarding DNA extraction, species identification, sequencing, marine species traceability, working alongside the different governments in the region.

Students can choose amongst new fields that interest them or give continuity to their language and other academic areas of study through transferable credits, all while enjoying a new country and being completely immersed in a different culture.

Homestay Families

Many of our homestay families have worked with Veritas for several years. New families are personally interviewed and vetted by our staff, including a home visit to ensure that the accommodations meet our standards. We evaluate homestay accommodations based on: distance from the university, general neighborhood environment, overall appearance, cleanliness, size of the home, student accommodations and living space. Most importantly, Veritas considers the family’s motivation for wanting to host study abroad students.

Accomodation

Students will have a private room, and will be provided breakfast and dinner 7 days a week. Laundry service is provided once a week. Lunch can be purchased on or near campus during the week for $4-10. All families live within walking distance (less than 1.5 kilometers) from campus. Veritas also provides a shuttle for students with evening classes or extracurricular activities. The safety of our students is priority.

If you wish to stay with a host family, please specify on the application, and fill out the housing form.

The Homestay program is $35 per day and includes breakfast and dinner everyday and laundry one a week.
