Request Restoration of FY12 FLAP Funding Levels

Dear Colleague,

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education has announced its markup of the FY 2014 appropriations bill. Our coalition was pleased that the Senate Committee agreed to the Department’s request for increased funding for the International and Foreign Language Education programs under Title VI of the Higher Education Act. The continued robust funding of this program ensures that the post-secondary elements of our national educational system will continue to focus on languages critical to our national well being.

We ask you to assist us in advocating for the funding of these programs by writing to your member of the House of Representatives to request that he/she would consider requesting that the Appropriations Committee restore the FY12 funding of $28m to the Foreign Language Assistance Program, and approve of the President’s request for funding of Title VI.

Thank you for voicing your support for language education.
