Online Family Literacy (English) Resources

The National Center for Family Literacy is offering new interactive online tools centered on the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History’s exhibitions and online OurStory program.
The museum’s OurStory activities are designed to engage a wide range of learning styles and involve reading a recommended book, learning about objects in the collections, hands-on projects, technology extensions and tips for field trips to local museums and historic sites.
The interactive, online learning resources for parents and children will teach historical concepts in a fun way with activities such as games and puzzles geared toward different age groups. The first two sets of materials focus on the creation of the Star-Spangled Banner and civil rights. They also will include recommended reading lists and guides for some of the books featured in the OurStory program.
